Are electric washing machines better than the alternatives?

The only other alternatives are wand washing all clothes, or gas washing machines. These are ran off the gas line into your home, and cost less than electric washers.

In today's times, yes an electric washing machine is better than the alternatives. The only alternatives I know of are washboards or wringer washer.

There may be solar powered kinds but most washing machines do use electricity so I'm not sure where you'd even find one that doesn't. If you get a front load one it's supposed to save you money on electricity though.
