The State Bank of Pakistan maintains its headquarters in Karachi. There is much speculation about funds deposited for use by terror organizations as well as money laundering, but the bank itself does not comment. It is not possible to say how it is thusly affected.

The State Bank of Pakistan was nationalized in 1974. Its duties were widened in 1997, and now functions as state bank and Pakistan's economic regulator.
