Different manufacturers label their engines differently. Sometimes the left cylinder bank is listed as number one, sometimes it's listed as number two. The best way to determine which is which is to check the engine section of the vehicle's service manual. Bank one is always the one which features cylinder one.

You can usually find information like thins either in a repair booklet or online. It usually depends on the car. If you can find this information elsewhere you may have to contact a dealer to find out for sure. Bank one is usually the front or drivers side.

This kind of things is typically vehicle specific. I could have told you if you would have specified the engine type and make/model of the car. All I cant tell you is to either look online for the information or contact a local dealer. They should be able to tell you which side is which.

The best way is to check a service manual or contact a dealer. Manufacturer may call different sides bank one and two. Usually it is the bank on the drivers side or the one towards the front of the transverse mounted engine.
