This is most likely the result of poor credit. This would give you access to a free credit report from the company the bank used to get the report.

You should check your credit report to find out if there is some information regarding defaulting on a bank, after you have asked the bank why the refused you.

Most bank accounts are denied because of information in your ChexSystems report. Please check your report (it can be done for free) to make sure it is accurate. However, a bank can deny opeing an account for any reason. You have no legel recourse.
