Is the Detroit 60 with the overhead cam more fuel efficient?

Answer by  Jakecutter (1819)

Not at all. This car is no more fuel efficient than any other car out there on the market. The Detroit 60 is even known for being terribly non fuel sufficient.

The number of cams is very important when you are considering fuel usage. The higher the cam number, the more fuel is required to operate the vehicle. It is important to evaluate before making any purchases.

I don't think so, because Detroit 60 is a heavy duty inline six cylinder diesel engine. It delivers RAW power. We can't make any significant fuel efficiency with overhead cam.

Yes it is! The cam shaft being placed overhead within the car under the hood makes for easier fuel intake and thus you spend less on gasoline and even get more per the gallon.
