Centipedes belong to the class Chilopoda, in the subphylum Myriapoda. Insects are in the class Insect, in superclass Hexapoda, in subphylum Mandibulata. The two subphyla are both in phylum Arthropoda.

No. They are arthropods, just as insects are, but they belong to a different class. Insects are known for having a head, thorax, abdomen, and six legs. Centipedes are known for having many segments and many legs.

The Centipede is actually an arthropods. Their sting is very painful to humans but not NORMALLY lethal. . Centipede means 100 legs, but they have far less. They are invertebrates, no backbone or spinal column. They are carnivores. They are fast moving and aggressive creatures. They live in the dirt and under things like rocks. They are nocturnal.
