Is taking your BMI a true measure of body weight?

The BMI is not the best way to measure your body weight. The problem is that the BMI measurement doesn't discriminate between muscle weight and weight from fat. Muscle weighs more than fat, and sometimes someone with little body fat and large muscles will measure as "obese" according to the BMI measurement. This is inaccurate.

No because it doesn't take into account the difference between muscle weight and fat weight. You can have a high BMI but be mostly muscle mass and be healthier than someone with a normal BMI that is more fat mass than muscle.

BMI is just your height and weight compared to generate a number. It accurately states your weight, but it's bogus when attempting to figure out if you are obese. BMI was invented in the 19th century and has never been scientifically validated. Hip to waist ratio is a better measurement.

BMI is not a true measure of body weight. BMI stands for Body Mass Index. BMI can tell you if your body mass is underweight, normal, or overweight.
