Is saying you're sorry a weakness?

My husband and I disagree in this one.

Being able to admit when you are wrong is one of the most important aspects of strength of character. People who are unable to admit their mistakes are too arrogant to be truly respected. However, it is a form of weakness to apologize when you did nothing wrong.

On the contrary, the ability to admit that you are wrong is a sign of maturity and strength. Only statues and other inanimate objects never make mistakes. The inability to say sorry sadly reflects on the person as it manifests an inability to see yourself as others may perceive you.

Being able to apologize for one's actions is a strength. It is the only way to begin to heal a mistake you have made and when you tell on yourself and apologize (admit a mistake) before someone else tells on you, it can lead to increased respect for you.

Saying you are sorry is not a weakness at all. In fact, it takes a 'big' person to admit they are wrong. Saying you are sorry is actually a strength.
