Is it safe to feed cauliflower to dogs?

I discovered last night that my children have been feeding my dog their veggies, last night it was cauliflower and I am concerned it will harm him.

Your dog should be fine, although he might be a little gassy. Many vets recommend giving veggies, like carrots or cauliflower, and fruits, like apples and bananas, in place of high fat snacks. It's preferable that the veggies be raw, unseasoned, and unsalted. Just don't feed your dog mushrooms, raisins, grapes, or onions, all of which are toxic to them.

Also be sure there is no skin on the fruits they can't digest the skin.  add a comment

Yes, it's safe for them. Although few people know, dogs are actually omnivores, and are able to eat a large variety of vegetables without getting sick.

Cauliflower is a safe vegetable for dogs to consume. It is a great treat to give your dog. Other safe vegetables are Carrots, Peas, and Broccoli. But be aware of Onions, Tomatoes, or Avacados, which can harm your dog. Contact your veterinary for a list of safe foods.

Cauliflower is not harmful but there many foods that dogs shouldn't have. The healthiest diet for your dog is one that does not include table scraps or people food.

My experience has been that my dogs love veggies, and after research I never give onions(cause for anemia) and only rarely a tomato. Other veggies given in abundance, they love cauliflower. no gas noted. They eat dog cooked veggie stew w/added organic meat & some chia seeds(digestive aid&powerful nutrients)

It won't harm the dog at all, in fact the veggies are good for them. One thing that you may not like is that the dog will get gassy.

All vegetables are very good for the dog the problem is the kids aren't getting theirs lol. And it will give the dog awful gas like the kind that clears large rooms.

Anything that you'd eat or give to a child should be ok, so don't feel peelings or leaves that you wouldn't eat, or small items that your dog could choke on. Note the consistency of the result of the unintended meal- if it's not good, watch your kids more carefully!

Max, my Shih tzu is 21 lbs and should be around 13. I cut his food and added broccoli, carrots and cauliflower. He loves it! Max has to weigh in in 2 months. Vet said he should loose 6 lbs by then. He's just not healthy with the extra weight.

I always try to incorporate some vegetable or fruit in my dachshund's lunch [apple, carrot, cauliflower, squash, etc.]. She looks forward to that little something different. Breakfast and dinner are strictly her dry dog food.
