As in all things Caveat Emptor- let the buyer beware. I have found most of it is excellent if YOU use good sense, check multiple sources and are sensible.

Free online legal advice is not one hundred percent accurate. Much of the advice is not written by professionals in the field of law. It does, however, serve as a good place to begin preliminary inquiries into one's legal questions.

This depends on the legal source. If it is a free online source that is reputable - like the IRS website, the county courthouse's website, government advice to consumers, then it is usually reputable. Advice columns by certified lawyers are usually reliable. Random thoughts on web forums often are not, if not out of date.

Yes, it can be. It depends on the source, just like in person legal advice. Online legal advice is a great start however in, at least, getting your head around a legal question.
