Question by  chouteau (6)

Why would a researcher use a traditional paper resource before using an online legal research tool?

I know that some cases are not filed in on the online legal resources, but I am still not sure how to answer this question.

Paper resources are more reliable, often more accessible, often more complete. The recording systems are also more reliable as the Internet presentations are not uniform or controlled.

Thank you for the explanation, and good point about the internet not being uniformed and controlled.  add a comment

Some legal encyclopedias and treatises are not reprinted online, and those secondary sources, while not as important in preparing motions and briefs as primary sources like codes or cases, are good for getting a good overview of a field of law when you are starting from scratch.
