yes absinthe is legal. its one of my husbands favorite hard liqueurs. but the thing you want to make sure of is that you get the German import kind of absinthe. the American version of absinthe looks and tastes exactly like green ny-quil and has a horrible after taste, not something enjoyable at all.

You can legally purchase absinthe in the United States as long as it contains less than 10ppm of thujone. However there are not a whole lot of restriction on what can be label as absinthe. Before you buy any make sure to research it carefully so you know you are getting a quality spirit.
