Is its legal for a company to pay an employee only a commission and no salary?

I've recently begun selling cars for well known auto dealership. They offer commission only pay tiers, and no base salary. Is this legal?

It is definitely legal for a company to pay its salespeople on a commission only basis. This should have been discussed and agreed upon as part of your hiring process. Few, if any, automobile dealers actually pay a salary in addition to commissions.

It is legal and should have been made clear in the interview and hiring process. The great thing is that if you don't like the policy, you don't have to work there.

It is legal for companies to pay their sales personnel commission only. Many companies offer draws ( weekly paychecks that are deducted from monthly commission checks ) but others offer commission only
