Duck billed Platypus is a mammal. It is the only mammal that lay eggs meaning that the babies are developed outside the body. Mammalian features of platypus are - hairs all over the body, mammary glands to milk it's young and are warm blooded. It holds the babies in their pouches just like a kangaroo.

Because it has a bill like a duck, lays eggs rather than giving live birth, and is venomous, confusion is understandable, but the little animal is a mammal

Despite the fact that it lays eggs, yes it is. This is due to the fact that it has the other characteristics of mammals: warm blood and body hair.

The platypus is considered a mammal because it has hair, it nurses its young with milk, and it is able to regulate its own body temperature, which is also called being "warm blooded. "
