Is a pet water fountain a good idea?

It seems like they wouldn't be reliable.

Yes. They are a great idea as far as the pet always having somewhat a type of fresh running water. If you only have 1 pet and the water would sit for a long period of time it would become stagnant and make the pet sick. For several pets it is also a great idea.

This depends. Cats tend to love these fountains as they are attracted to the sound of the moving water. However, larger animals can drink the amount of water the fountains supply very quickly meaning you have to refill the fountain frequently. They are also somewhat difficult to clean.

Yes, it is. On summer days, the water from a pet water fountain is always cool, not like water poured into a bowl. Because the stored water is enough for several days, you won't have to worry that you may forget to give water to your pet.

I'm not so sure. Housemates have them. To my knowledge the fountains have been cleaned only once in 4 months- gross. Now two animals have loose stool and they can't figure it out. A stainless bowl cleaned every couple of days works great. Ya feed them daily/ change water daily!

The pet water fountain is a good idea. Once the pet gets used to the flower water, they can be assured of fresh water whenever they are thirsty. Some pets find it fun and end up drinking more water.
