How should I go about troubleshooting my guitar amp lineout cable?

I can't get any sound out!

The cable may not be connected properly. You may also want to check and see if the cord is frayed or split - you may need to replace it.

Check the wire carefully for any sign of rupture, including the ends. A cut/broken wire and even a mildly bent endpiece can cause audio failure.

If the line out cord is detachable, the best thing to do is replace it. Those type cables tend to develop ground faults. They are very difficult to repair.

1. test amp 2. test cable 3. test headphones or speaker that you are trying to line out to. if all those work but not together you have a short
