How should I attach a ledger board to a stucco wall?

The ledger board should be attached with galvalnized screws pre-drilled in through the wall so nothing splits or cracks. This is the best way to attach the board.

The ledger board needs to be anchored into the building structure. Look inside the building to see where the ring joist is located or the studs and then drill through the stucco to anchor to those members using lag screws. Stucco is decorative not structural.

you need to make sure that the nail or screw that you use will penetrate the stucco and go into the wall stud.
