Do the trailer and the truck have electrical connections already installed? If so then you need to see if they are of the same type, if not then your local parts store should have an adapter. If not, then get an installer to put the connections on.

Go to the dealer and buy the correct wire kit for your truck. Depending on make and model, you normally just separate a plug between the tail lights and plug the new wires in. Make sure to secure the extra wire up under the truck.
