How do you find studs behind a stucco wall?

I know they have stud finders for sheetrock, but do they work on stucco.

Stud finders work on magnetic responses so they'll be able to detect a stud behind a stucco wall, not just a sheetrock wall.

There is only one that will do what you want done. It is a Nailfinder 400 , runs on 220VAC and is very loud.

Because of the metal screen behind the stucco, stud finders won't work. Measure from corner of house on 18 inch centers... you may have to drill exploration hole.

Stud finders do not work on stucco walls. Hit the wall softly with the fleshy part of your fist. A hollow sound means keep hitting, moving your fist sideways each time until you hear a definite change in the resounding thump. A higher pitch, sharper sound indicates you've found your stud. A stud will be every 16 to 24 inches.
