Nope it is not once a week or once a month, it changes daily and sometimes it may change several times per day but that is in very rare situations, but still, knowing the situation today with the economic crisis which the most powerfull economies are facing , you have to be prepared.

The french no longer use francs, they use the Euro. Currency changes at a non predictable pace it depends on the economy around it.
