A newly enlisted private will receive approximately $1500 during active duty. A Sergeant can receive approximately 1900-2700 a month depending on length of service. A first lieutenant might receive approximately 2600-3400 a month also depending upon length of service. The amounts for higher ranking individuals vary greatly due to their individual duties.

Average salary for a Private First Class in in the Army is $20,500. Uniforms, housing etc may not be included in this. As you progress through ranks, pay increases.
