Diabetes is a condition which typically precludes enlistment in the Army. The Army does not want to run the risk of having to treat someone for a chronic condition such as diabetes while in the field. However, talking honestly with a recruiter about your condition will yield better answwers to your questions.

Unfortunately, a diagnosis of diabetes will disqualify you from enlisting in the armed forces. This condition cannot be hard to controll in the rigorous environment of recruit training or later during any deployments which are sure to come along. It would become impossible to manage in any combat scenario and possibly endanger not only your life but other servicemembers.

Unfortunately, you are not allowed to join the US Army if you are already diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. There may be special circumstances that would allow you to join if you have type 2 diabetes. However, any complete knowledge should be acquired from the local recruitment officer who would also be able to appeal your case.
