Generally babies eat about an ounce an hour, regardless of age. So if your 4 month old is eating every other hour, they are eating about 2 oz at a feeding. Sometimes it's hard to tell when they are at the breast. If you are pumping and they are eating more then this, they are probably being overfed.

It is going to vary by baby and by how long they actually eat at each feeding. The only way to be sure is to weight the baby.

Up to six months of age, they should average about 2-2. 5 ounces or formula or breast milk per pound of weight, per day. Per feeding, it's usually about 4-6 ounces.
