It takes approximately 12 years of schooling to be an anesthesiologist. Students attend 4 years each of college and medical school respectively (total of 8 years), 3 years of internship and 1 year of residency. Upon graduation from medical the student will receives either a M. D. or D. O. degree. After successfully completing residency he/she can practice.

Therefore, at a minimum you have to complete 10 years of post-high school education to be an anesthesiologist. A nurse anesthetist has to complete similar schooling as a doctor.

In order to be an anesthesiologist one must graduate from college and then go on for specific medical training in the selected field. In addition to formal education, there are residency requirements. Anesthesiologists, like other medical doctors, are responsible for life and death and therefore must be well educated and trained.

in order to become an anesthesiologist you mustn't fool around. You must go to college for four years and then go to medical school for another four years. you must also get a resideny which is another year. Masters degree which is three years so you must go for 12/years!
