How hard is it to keep up with gaming on a desktop?

It depends on what sort of game you play on your desktop. If it's an MMORPG like World of Warcraft, you don't HAVE to use the same computer as long as you know your login information. If you're more into games you've downloaded, like SIMs, then you'll just have to let your game lapse on vacation.

A desktop machine can be upgraded easier than a laptop. Play online games on you laptop when traveling and use your desktop for the latest powerhungry games.
