Infants get tonsillitis the same way as anyone else. They're exposed to an infection and it collects in the tonsils, which then have to be removed.

An infant gets tonsillitis in the same fashion that an adult gets it. If it is either bacterial or viral, it is a consequence of exposure to an individual with an active form of the infection. Toxins in the air and allergies may also be implicated, though less often than routine causes.

Tonsillitis is caused when the tonsils getting an infection. Usually caused by a viral infection. Your doctor will prescribe an antibiotic to treat the infection. It is not uncommon for an infant or child to get tonsillitis. If it becomes a reoccurring problem further testing or treatment may need to be done such as having the tonsils removed.
