Most of the time an infant has no serious problems when infected with chicken pox, however if they have other health issues or are on medication, things can be a bit more serious. You still may want to check with your doctor since its an infant case.

The younger the child, the less severe the chicken pox. If your infant is a newborn (0-6 months) you need to bring him/her to a doctor to get the temperature monitored. Older babies(up to 2 years) are generally safe although you might want to get them medicine to bring the fever down and prevent them from scratching the scabs.
