How do you wire a three way switch to a single pole?

If you are in need of 3-way functionality it is impossible to do so without two 3-way switches. If not important remove one of the "traveller" on the 3-way switch.

Three-way switches will have four wire terminals. Connect one wire to common terminal ,the other wire to the un common terminal, ground wire to the ground terminal. .

Hot incoming wire on the dark screw, wire going to the switched device at top right brass screw. You may need to turn it over to have the position up.
