How do you replace the front wheel bearing in a Chevy Avalanche?

Answer by  codykeller (153)

It will depend on if its 2wd or 4wd, not enough info here. Remove wheel lugs, remove caliper, remove castle nut from axle remove bad wheel bearing replace with new.

remove the tire, remove the brake caliper and the frame that hold it in place, remove dust cover in the center of the rotor, remove cotter pin and loosen nut, gentle pull rotor out, remove old bearings and pack new bearings in grease. This is for a 2 wheel drive

Can't repack, it's a sealed hub assembly containing the bearing. The whole thing has to be replaced.  add a comment

You are going to need to pull the wheel off and then take your caliper off and rotor off. You will then be left with the hub assembly.

You are going to have to take off the front tire of course and then disassemble the entire caliper unit and rotors to get to the bearing.
