How do you repair a transom?

If you've got a wood-core fiberglass transom it's a little complex but definitely do-able! Remove the top cap and then remove the wood core without damaging the fiberglass (use a drill/hacksaw). Then do some cutting of the fiberglass and plywood, waxing and pouring of the composite.

If the wood is rotted, then you will need to chip out the rotted wood and place a piece of plywood of where the rotted wood was located, then you will need to clamp there area in order to place new mold filling inside the transom. After the mold filling dries remove the clamps.

For simple small holes in the transom all you need is to bore it, fix a screen and use some gel. Won't work for larger hols and complex damage though. I've heard of a product called Seacast which is a pourable repair solution.

You will have to clamp the transom together and added the mold filing inside of the transom after it has been clean out but removing the old rotted wood that is inside of the transom. Then you will have to allow the transom to dry and then you can remove the clamps
