This is a fairly difficult "repair" job, if you consider yourself a novice i would insist that you contact an automotive expert. If you consider yourself beyond that, you're going to need to get a air-pressure jack and pump up your car. Located on each shock is a set of Heavy bolts. You'll need a powerful socket gun.

On most trucks all you have to do is remove two bolts, one at the top and one at the bottom of each shock. The process is different with coil-overs.

First support the axles or suspension securely on jack stands. The use some penetrating oil on the shock mounting bolts. Then use a wrench and impact gun or breaker bar to break the bolts loose. Then remove each set and slide the shock out. If the truck has coil springs they will have to be compress with a compressor tool.

Compress the coil springs, if applicable, and unbolt the shocks from the top and bottom of the frame. Slide the coil and shock out of the vehicle.

depending on the shocks you might have 1 or 2 bolts holding the shocks on either end, remove the bolts, compress the shock for easy removal, if the bolts are rusted apply penetrating oil to ease removal. Newer vehicles might have struts and the shock is part of that assembly, if thats the case seek professional help

A air pressure jack is needed to pump the car up and a powerful socket gun. You'll have to locate each shock with a set of Heavy bolts. Use penetrating oil on shock mounting bolts. If truck has coil springs it will have to be compressed with a compressor machine.
