You must obtain a specific fan removal tool. Most auto parts stores carry them. With the special tool, you can hold the shaft to keep it from spinning. Once the shaft is secured, the fan can be loosened and removed from the water pump. Depending on the year the fan may be reverse threaded.

The fan is screwed onto the waterpump. Hold the pump still, (screw 2 bolts into the pulley holes) then you should be able to spin it off.

Depending on the dodge, be it dodge pick up or dodge car will make the task harder or easier. Assuming its a dodge truck the task should be simple remove the belt that is running the fan clutch, then remove appropriate nuts/bolts, pull the old unit and replace with a new one, and replace the belt.

Keep the belt installed. Using a large wrench, place it on the center nut and turn it to the left (some fans are "left handed" so try to the right, also). If it doesn't loosen by hand, use a mallet to jolt it loose and turn it like a screw.

If your vehicle has a fan clutch that only is attached via one large nut,you will need a fan clutch removal tool. Most auto parts stores will be able to loan you one of these for your make model of vehicle.
