For the best outcome, fresh sassafras seed are the best bet. There are good websites that will instruct you how to do this. Taking the suckers in the winter, potting them and keeping them inside for their first year can produce good results. Good, moist soil and light shade will keep them happy.

The easiest way is to save the seeds. Harvest the seeds after they fall from the tree, then dry them out in a cool dark place for a few months. Then plant them and watch the magic happen.

Can propagate by using seeds, root cutting, suckers etc. Seeds can be collected when the fruits turn dark blue. 3 months prechilling in order to germinate is required(seeds)
