Well my friend this takes time. Start practicing! I've been playing guitar for about 7 years now and I still can't play like him. You should start learning all of your scales and especially play alot of drop-D tuning. Listen to his riffs over and over again and you just may start "hearing" his music.

It is going to take years of practice to play as well as Kirk does. I suggest getting lessons for a few years and after you begin to master it, purchase a metallica music book or look for metallica tabs online. Take it slow and work your way up.

Kirk Hammett is the lead guitarist of Metallica, a progressive rock band. He replaced Dave Mustaine as the lead guitarist in the year 1983. His style include some very heavy distortion with a tinge of funk training that he got from Joe Satrianni. His plucking style is unique and he follows the finger plucking method for most of his solos.

Time and Practice. Kirk Hammett, the guitarist for Metallica, has been playing for years and years upon end. He's gotten as good as he is by time, dedication and practice. Keep practicing and if it helps take guitar lessons. When something gets easy for you to play move on to more challenging things.
