You can buy an electronic tool that can measure mitre angles for you. These digital protractors allow you to correctly measure the angle you need. First of all, you will need to determine the exact angles that you will need for your project. Then you will need a carpenter's square or a framing square to measure the angles correctly before marking and cutting them.

Use a square (usually found in hardware stores). When the square is flush against one surface the angle being measured is lined up with a number listed on the square. Thus the angle is measured, unless you're measuring angles for crown molding or other complex problem.
