Take a bobby pin and place it at a 90 degree angle at the base of the head, then push it forward so it lays underneath the twist.

If they are flat twists you can use small rubber bands. Same with two strand twists. Also, if your hair is kinky the ends will stay by themselves. If you have a perm, then you can use rubber bands or you can rod the ends and use a little gel or setting lotion to hold it.
