The best thing to do if you're worried about your son's development is to ask his pediatrician to do an assessment. The pediatrician can then recommend a specialist if needed.

Playing walking, marching, and running games (even tag) can help develop gross motor skills. Dancing also helps. Throwing a ball is another good activity. Water activities are also helpful.

You can take him to a professional if it is very severe. At home, you can try to stimulate his motor skills with small actions and try to get him to take small steps and do minor physical activity without pushing him to the point of discomfort.

Gross motor development is important because it's the development of the larger muscles. The best way to get these developed is through play. Bring your child to the playground, encourage running, climbing, and throwing a ball. Keep your child active throughout the day, rather than in front of a tv.

Have him play with toys like blocks, Lincoln logs, or any other building materials. Work on having him catch balls too.

This depends on the age of your child. For an infant, tummy time, bicycling legs and rolling arms, and standing up with support help. For toddlers bicycling legs, rolling arms, walking a balance beam, throwing and catching balls and high, low and side fives help.
