How do you go about raising a porch roof to remove old columns and then replace the porch flooring?

Well you will need to build a load bearing structure and attach it to the roof. Make it sturdy enough to safely hold the roof's weight. It would be better to over-build it to make sure it will hold the roof safely. It must also be made so you can easily work around it without it getting in the way.
