Everything that goes into the mouth passes through the liver. It is then usually eliminated through the kidneys. Different medications have varying half-lives, which is the time it takes for half the substance to be eliminated, then half again, etc. There is no effective way, despite commercial claims, to get drugs to leave the body more quickly.

This is dependent on so many variables, for instance, the type of medication as well as your age and health status. In a young healthy person taking a water soluble medication that is easily excreted by the kidneys, it may be a matter of hours. However, some medications have very long halflives, months even. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

If you have over dosed you should call poison control. In some cases, you might take ipecac to induce vomiting. In other cases, you will have to wait it out.

You just have to let it take its course. Call a doctor and ask him the best thing to do in this case.
