How do you format a computer?

Go into my computer right click on the harddrive and choose format. This will bring up the format screen. Choose Quick Format. Hit ok. It will format the harddrive. Another way is to put in your windows or repair disk and do a clean install.

Insert your Windows installation CD, and restart. Press any key to boot from CD. Select new installation. When prompted, indicate that you'd like to format the hard drive. Follow all prompts on screen. Hit enter when prompted.

The easiest way to reformat a hard drive is to reboot the computer with the operating system CD in it. It will ask whether you want to reformat your machine.

If you still have the original install disc (like the disc XP came on if you're using XP), you should just be able to restart your computer with the disc in the CD drive and it'll ask if you want to reformat to a new clean install.

If you really want start clean table, e. g REALLY BAD virus or spy ware infection, i would use software called DBAN (Darik's Boot and Nuke). Actually it's special Linux software what run standalone from CD / USB stick. After that software you must have installation DVD for clean install.
