How do you fix the emergency brake on a jeep Cherokee?

It depends. It might be that your emergency brake cable is just loose and you need to tighten it. this can usually be done under the vehicle on the driver's side. Or you may need new brake shoes on your rear drum brakes. Either one of these could be the problem.

First try lubricating all of the parts of the emergency brake system. If that doesn't work, it may need to be tightened. You can tighten it by loosening the bolts on the metal bracket where the cables meet and then taking out the slack and tightening the bolts back up.

Check to see exactly what needs replacing, this means you need to figure out if it is the brake cable. Or if it is the brake shoes.

the e-brake has a cable that connects to the back wheels. when you push the pedal down it should tighten the cable to the back wheels.
