If the fixture is just a ceramic lampholder, it is cheapest and easiest just to replace the fixture, turn off power at the fuse or breaker and copy what is there. If the switch is in someother fixture procure a new switch, and swap out with the old.

If the chain has not been pulled completely out of the rotary switch, your local hardware or home center sells couplings and chain which allows you to splice together the chain. If the chain has been pulled completely out of the switch you must dissasemble the fixture and redo the chain entirely.

Take the light apart and pull the old chain out and reinstall a new chain. It is simple but time consuming.
