Get a stud-finder, they can be found at any local hardware store for a relatively inexpensive price. Use the finder as stated in the directions. Usually you would place the device on the wall and slide it, slowly, across the wall until the lights light up.

You can use a stud finder to located studs in your walls. This may not work for walls made of very thick plaster. Most stud finders locate the edges of studs but some can actually locate the center.

Buy a stud finder from a home improvement store. You can also measure in 16" increments from a corner and test by driving a finishing nail into an inconspicuous spot.
