How do you figure out slugging percentage?

+7

Answer by  nuttree (1596)

The slugging percentage is calculated as a player's total number of bases divided his total of at-bats. So a single would count as one base (just as it would in a conventional batting average) but a double counts as two, a triple as three, and a home run as four.

Slugging percentage is determined in a very unique way, different than determining batting average or earned run average. Slugging percentage is found by total bases(single, double, triple,or home run), divided by the total number of at bats a player has or had. Slugging percentage does not include the number of walks a player has or had during the saeson.
