Caring is when you respect and ackonwledge someone else's feelings. You don't have to put their feelings above yours but you do have to be extrememly considerate of their feelings.

Caring is the act whereby a person places his or her attention totally on another person, place, object etc. This act requires that the person doing the caring step outside themselves and become concerned and focused on the person, place or thing receiving their attention.

Caring is the opposite of indifference. Caring about a person could mean that you love them, that you would do anything to help them, or that you want the best for them. Caring means that you have feelings, whether negative or postitive, about a subject.
