How do you deal with abusive customers?

Let them vent for a minute. Then repeat what they have said in a reworded fashion to show that you have listed. Empathize. Then offer a solution.

Since it is a customer there is not too much you can do. I find being extremely polite, cheerful and helpful to work best. It takes a lot of patience though.
