Tendonitis is inflammation of a tendon and taking some sort of advil or aleve will help reduce the inflammation as well as a physician prescribed anti inflammatory. It will also require that you give the tendon the rest it needs to heal and not continue to use it in movements.

Healing tendonitis requires keeping the afflicted tendon as rested as possible. Try not to use the limb that is affected and apply ice to it as necessary. Take OTC painkillers if you need to for pain or inflammation.

Common Tendonitis injuries are cured by time. The pain can be treated at home using anti-inflamatories like Motrin©, or Tylenol© as directed, and comfort measures like sports cream. Warm compresses, and rest are helpful. See a doctor if it doesn't get better, or if the cause is unknown.

Aside from surgery it is not cured so much as prevented. Hydrotherapy hot/cold treatment has amazing affect on tendonitis and tendonosis. Massage can help with the pain and muscle tension. Regular stretching of the hands and arms can also be very beneficial. Sleeping at night with the hands flat under the pillow can also be beneficial.

Until you can see a doctor, the best way to get relief from tendonitis is rest and ibuprofen or aleve. There is also the RICE program, which is rest, ice, compression and elevation of the injured body part whatever it may be. I learned about the RICE program years ago from my grandmother.....it works well!

1) Apply ice and take anti-inflamatory medication to lessen swelling, pain and discomfort. 2) Take it easy - don't stress the the tendon too much and give it time to heal. 3) Take preventative measures such as making sure to warm up before exercise and stretch well before and after.

Rest. Don't over do anything to aggravate the situation. Read a good book and enjoy the time resting. Apply heat and ice.
