Surprisingly, the word "abracadabra" was originally invented to cure hay fever. However, I sincerely doubt that's going to work.

You're probably thinking of ABRACADABRA. Ancient Roman physicians were using the word as far back as the 2nd century AD as a talisman against all kinds of inflammation and fevers, including hay fever. Some scholars think it may be of Hebrew origin.

Many magicians use the amusing word "abracadabra" during their acts. I bet that even they don't know that saying "abracadabra" was originally used as a way to cure hay fever.
