Using pesticides and doing your due diligence when planting it by getting rid of any weeds will help big time. I recommend taking the top 3 inches of soil from the garden and replacing it with new soil so you will not have any problems with weeds or in ground pests that threaten your garden.

The best way to create a low maintenance garden is to find hardy plants and ground covers that are native to your area. Create paths from flat stones or gravel and add sculptural elements among the foliage for a decorative garden. Also, evergreen shrubs, hosta, or ferns grow almost anywhere.

All gardens, whether flower or vegetable, require basic maintenance, depending on your location. Make sure your plants are appropriate for your zone and can tolerate your growing conditions

Succulents are a great low maintenance choice. They require very little water and no trimming. Another idea is to install a drip system or other automatic waterer and choose plants that don't need to be deadheaded.

Easy as pie gardening requires the best that nature has to offer. Filling an empty space with rock, a few potted containers, and larger accent stones will give any area a touch of your magic without the backbreaking work or time.
