What special care do pet snakes need?

They seem like low maintenance but I want to be sure.

Snakes require an environment that stays between 70 and 90 degrees to stay active. If the temperature drops below this range, they pretty much cease all activity. Snakes require live food. Small snakes may eat insects or frogs. Larger snakes generally require warm-blooded mammals for food.

It depends on the species. Some need very careful temperature monitoring and special foods while others are pretty undemanding. The important thing is to ask an expert before buying.

In order to care for a pet snake, you should consider what their natural habitat is, then try to replicate it as closely as possible. You will need an aquarium with a secure lid and a heat rock at minimum. Your snake will also need fresh water, clean bedding and apprpriate food. The cage will need to be cleaned weekly.

Pet snakes require a very secure aquarium-type case, with glass sides and a top that fits tightly but allows air in. They also eat live food, such as mice, and being cold-blooded, they require a constant and reliable source of heat.
